“THE MILITIA OF THE REDEEMED MARCHES IMMACULATELY”: THE CAMPAIGN OF ASSEMBLY OF GOD EVANGELICALS TO THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH OF PARANÁ IN 2018

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the singularities and similarities between the campaigns of twelve candidates linked to the Assemblies of God, who resorted to religious capital during the 2018 elections to the Legislative Assembly of Paraná. We identified and collected the posts on the Facebook pages of the politicians during the election period, and built analytical categories, in order to understand how these agents organized their campaign strategies. It is possible to characterize a modus operandi of the candidates as plural, decentralized and non-systematic, focused more intensely on representation and participation among the community of origin, a similar behavior to the organization of the institutional structure of the Assemblies of God.
