Abstract

The paper analyzes the effect of economic thought of Ernesto “Che” Guevara considering the recent experiences of Latin American governments inspired by the “XXI Century Socialism” (Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua). Based on the fundamental concepts developed by Guevara as finance minister of the Cuban socialist government, we consider its practical application in the economic policies of the Bolivarian government in Venezuela and other countries around which follow the socialist principles. We consider his ideas in a comparative analysis concerning new ways of organizing the economic activity and production policies that are currently running in several Latin American countries. The practical application of the XXI Century Socialism allows the emergence of a new concept of organizational development, with other values, another innovation culture, closely linked to the emergence of a participatory democracy as an expression of the new popular power as a base to integrated development.
