Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the dynamics of iconographic elements related to a number of oratories produced in Brazil during the 17th and 18th centuries. In this analysis, it is proposed to introduce a brief discussion about the images application corresponding to either focused on the popular religiosity or whether the other events that translate visually the Church's doctrinal arguments.

Arquiteta. Este texto decorre de tese de doutorado defendida na Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade de São Paulo em maio de 2010, intitulada: “Espaço Doméstico, Devoção e Arte: A Construção Histórica do Acervo de Oratórios Brasileiro, Séculos XVIII e XIX”.
