Abstract

The aim of this paper is to discuss the historiographical and political issues founds in the last book of the French historian Fernand Braudel: L'Identité de la France (1986). Using the concept of long run, Braudel constructs a political discourse around the French identity in order to relativize the contradictions of national history.
