Abstract

Interested on the methodological aspects that guide an historian’s work, this paper focuses on the use of photography and the press as documentary sources of history. Having that in mind, the present study involves the analysis of an influential national historical publication and the Amazonian social context in which professional services (e.g., photographer) offered in the city of Manaus was published by the press during the second half of the XIX century.
