Abstract

This article has as main goal to analyse the history of the violonist Anibal Augusto Sardinha, the “Garoto”, during the age of radio, when he performed in many radios of São Paulo and afterwards, in Radio Nacional at Rio de Janeiro, in shows such as “Nada Além de Dois Minutos” and “Um milhão de melodias”, this latter had the premiere on 1943, due to the launching of Coca-Cola in Brazil, which sponsored the show. After that, there is a reflection about the aspect of the master Radamés Gnattali's career (1906-1988), who performed with Garoto and had a central role all along the period. To finish, the highlight of historical aspects of the radio as a mean of mass communication, until the appearance of TV in Brazil, which took place in September 1950.
