Abstract

The objective of this dissertation is to analyse how travellers from German-speaking areas described this country's travel infrastructure. To this purpose, attention will be paid first to the voyage to Brazil, which in the majority of cases ended in the port of Rio de Janeiro. Afterwards it will be elaborated on the possibilities of accommodation and mobility through the city that the Brazilian capital offered to the travellers, and finally the information given by the reports on travelling in the Brazilian hinterland will be dealt with.
