Two times Calabar – 1632/1973

Abstract

This article analyses the play Calabar written by Chico Buarque and Ruy Guerra and shows how the authors have used the Dutch invasions in Brazil to make critical considerations about the military dictatorship. The central hypothesis is that the authors do not just work based on an established historiographical concept but they also propose other ways of seeing that moment in the history of Brazil.
