Abstract

This text deals with Brazil’s foreign politics development from 1964 through 1979. In those years, during Castelo Branco, Costa e Silva, Médici and Geisel presidential terms, the nation’s foreign politics inflection points expressed different perceptions on how should Brazilian State power projection – i. e., its potency politics – be. The author’s supports the thesis that, in this as in other matters, that period of time is marked by discontinuous propositions and practices relatively to potency politics.
