Sustainable Human Habitats Development
a review on concepts, trends and events based on the experiences of successful cities in the world

El mundo del siglo XXI se caracteriza por una gran movilidad de la población. Cuando un número cada vez mayor de personas ha optado por abandonar su tierra natal y reubicarse en un nuevo país, de entre las cuestiones que han preocupado al gobierno, a los académicos y al público de todo el mundo, la expansión urbana es una de las más destacadas. Hay opiniones contradictorias sobre esta tendencia creciente. Mientras que se ha tomado como un desarrollo positivo en muchas ciudades de reciente creación, se percibe cada vez más como una amenaza para el entorno urbano y se considera un desencadenante de numerosos problemas urbanos. El objetivo de este artículo es evaluar las fuerzas que subyacen a esta tendencia y sus consecuencias en relación con el programa ONU-Hábitat, basándose en las experiencias de ciudades exitosas del mundo para revelar los aspectos teóricos y prácticos de lo que actualmente se conoce como desarrollo urbano sostenible a escala mundial. Los principios derivados de la evaluación, se proponen para ser utilizados en el desarrollo sostenible de la ciudad de Teherán en Irán.
