The career of older workers is a topic that has received little research in both international and Brazilian literature. The objective of this article is to map, analyze and summarize international scientific publications on the career of these workers. Forty-three studies from the Web of Science and Scopus databases were reviewed. This review generated four categories: long-term career path, individual factors, organizational factors and public policies, and theoretical approaches. The results contribute to the advancement of the literature on the career of older workers. An agenda for future studies that could guide research and expand scientific knowledge on career longevity is highlighted.
