Humor e Política
Vol. 17 No. 49 (2024)Aurora, an academic journal focused on Art, Media, and Politics, was established in 2006 by a group of researchers and is currently in its 49th edition. This issue aims to expand the discussion on humor within the Humanities and the dynamics of power. The dossier includes articles that explore satire and humor in various contexts: an analysis of the role of the press in abolition and racism in Brazil, an examination of extreme-right political cartoons, and satire of nationalism in the series "Filhos da Pátria." Other contributions address humor in cinema, from Brazilian chanchadas and the critique of fascism in Italian cinema to contemporary parodies. The journal also investigates the impact of memes on politics and electoral campaigns, and features an interview with Cristiano Botafogo about humor and politics in the podcast "Medo e Delírio em Brasília." Additionally, the continuous flow section includes a study on culture and technology in Flavio Colin's comics.

Dossier: Cartography of the Brazilian Anthropocene Ruins
Vol. 15 No. 45 (2022)Over the past few years, the Anthropocene concept has enabled a more concatenated understanding of how human beings and ecosystem damage are intertwined. In addition to the widespread degradation of ecosystems, desolation and damage also permeate human relationships, making it more difficult to view disasters as “natural”, as they mix with the social in their origins and consequences.

Dossier: Projects and identities of Brazil: 200 years of Brazilian Independence and 100 years of the Modern Art Week
Vol. 15 No. 44 (2022)The year 2022 marks important changes in Brazilian history. Year of crossroads of forces and country projects, in which general elections are held to change or maintain the command of the republic, bringing to light the clash between ideological tendencies at play and bringing to the surface political anxieties and violence. This is a crucial year in defining the immediate directions that Brazil will take, at a dramatic moment in the country's history, in the midst of the economic crisis and facing a global pandemic, in which Brazilian society finds itself politically fractured by the events of the last decade and under the rule of an extreme right disruptive with democratic values.
It should be added that this year also celebrates two important historical events with fruitful repercussions on the country's destiny, which played a fundamental role in the construction and formation of its identity. In 2022, the second centenary of the Independence of Brazil, achieved on September 7, 1822, and the first centenary of the Modern Art Week, from February 13 to 17, 1922, will be completed. 2022 invites us to reflect on the ways and paths of Brazil, on national projects and utopias of the past and present, and the formation of Brazilian identity. -
