De um El Dourado à uma Paris nos Trópicos: Belém, um caleidoscópio de imagens (1889-1915)

This paper aims to discuss the architectural and urban transformations in Belém processed between the years 1897-1912, transcending the proposal of a political and civilizing of the rubber barons. Screening schedule for research was due to elect regional intellectual production that moment as a framework of urban transformations – social and visual beautification of the city, funded by profits gomiferos, leaving aside the tensions that occur in the midst of society and human actions in formatting process of “Paris in the Tropics”. This device for the development of the city designed by the Presidents and intellectual context of the study was accepted by the historiography, presenting a perspective urbanization promoted by the riches of the latex articulated proposals Stewardship Antonio Lemos, creating a logic to the history of reforms of the city of Bethlehem from two aspects: business cycles and political administrations. To develop this work, we used reports and Fallas of Presidents, as well as city maps, in conjunction with a bibliography on the topic.Downloads
