Abstract

The digital art pieces have in common the concept of collective participation, as a group of different professionals that work together or the use of the remix of different languages, programming codes or audio and visual elements. In this context, the Latin American artists find an ideal environment for creation. The discourse that associates the Latin American artist with a “ancestral purity”, their relation with the Mother Nature consider him incapable to manipulate the “cold and clean” high technologies, only oriented to the global economic centers. Nevertheless, what its´ seen in the work of these artists is a potential to appropriation that is taken to another level, the superposition of the physical and virtual environment, the common language with the 0 and 1. As the Mexican artist Gómez-Peña says: it’s about “spangling” the network, infect the official language, “tanning” the virtual space. The text presents an analysis of work of different digital artists from Mexico and Brazil towards a proposal of an aesthetics of the local digital arts.
