A desestabilização do insólito na narrativa de Evelyn Scott e William Faulkner

Este artigo analisa comparativamente o uso do insólito nas obras dos modernistas sulistas Evelyn Scott, em Escapade (1923), e William Faulkner, em The sound and the fury (1929), com o objetivo de reavaliar o pioneirismo de Scott. A análise adota uma perspectiva crítica e feminista, tratando o insólito como um instrumento de resistência política e subjetiva, fundamentada no conceito de uncanny (estranho familiar) de teóricos como Nicholas Royle e Sigmund Freud. A pesquisa conclui que, embora ambos desestabilizem a narrativa, Evelyn Scott o faz de forma precursora, vinculando o insólito à corporeidade e à crítica de gênero. Assim, o trabalho evidencia que o apagamento histórico de Scott reflete a necessidade de revisão do discurso hegemônico masculino no cânone literário e o justo retorno da escritora como uma das vozes mais importantes do modernismo norte-americano.
