Abstract

If we considerer that fantastic narrative has been structured as a literary category from the European romanticism, we will evidence that more than two centuries ago it has composed the Western literary history. For many motives, due to vogues or political and historical fluctuations, the fantastic narrative sometimes takes part in cultural movement, sometimes hides. In the contemporaneous Brazilian literature, Lygia Fagundes Telles rescues the fantastic literature, by innovating it, at the same time she faces to category’s tradition. This recuperation is made by process of intertextuality, through references to the fantastic narratives of the XIX and XX centuries; among them, it is detached the intertextual dialogue that she develops with the Edgar A. Poe’s works, by establishing a meeting place between discursive formations: of the author/narrator, of the reader and of the literary tradition.
