Abstract

Among those who are dedicated to examine the fantastic literature and its akin genres, Todorov's name appears, either to refute, or to accept the theses presented in the Introduction à la litterature fantastique. In fact, it is necessary to recognize the merit of this work, which was able to highlight the general laws that guide the fantastic literary text, defining the borders which are kept with the akin genres - the wonderful and the weird. Recognizing, thus, the bonds which link the fantastic and the wonderful, this work, though, does not aim at the formal issues which individualize the genres, but it approaches problems concerning the reception of the wonderful. The focus adopted here must, effectively, emphasize the process through which the wonderful, circumscribed to the territory of the fairy tales, happened to isolate itself in the segment of the infant-public-oriented literature.
