Abstract

This article proposes a dialogue between the symbolism of Baleia, the dog, in Graciliano Ramos’ Barren Lives and other works of the universal literature, such as The Book of Jonas, Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick and Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio. It emphasizes on the theme of resurrection and its literary representation, relating it to Nietzsche’s The Antichrist, as well.
