Understanding translation as a route through which the identity of a writer can be can be established in another language, this article takes the book Soulstorm, that collects the short stories of Onde estivestes de noite and Via crucis do corpo, by Clarice Lispector, as its main object. We intend to show how the paratexts of that edition help build new images of Clarice in the English language, as well as to indicate how these texts are part of even bigger projects that involve translating Lispector into the English language.
