Abstract

Interview with Cleusa Rios Passos, who is a full professor at Faculdade de Filosofia Letras e Ciências Humanas da Universidade de São Paulo [Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Human Sciences of the University of São Paulo], where she has taught psychoanalysis and its place as a knowing element in literary studies. In this six-section interview, professor Cleusa Rios Passos presents a comprehensive view of different approaches to psychoanalysis in Brazil – from the origins of its confluence with literature to the studies of contemporary Brazilian literature being conducted nowadays, besides pointing out pathways for criticism in the future.

Cleusa Rios Passos has wide experience in the area of Languages, her chief focus being on Literary Theory; her studies revolve principally around the following themes: Guimarães Rosa, narrative forms and the confluence of literary criticism and psychoanalysis. Since 2005, she has been a co-coordinator in the “Crítica Literária e Psicanálise” [Literary Criticism and Psychoanalysis] Research Group.
