The present work aims at understand how, in the novel A asa e serpente and in the film Matadouro, both by Vicente Franz Cecim (2020, 1975), man’s fulfillment is achieved in the midst of a space of denial of human beings in their search. The dialogue with the works under study has as its starting point the considerations regarding “repetition” and “difference” made by Deleuze (1998), so that we understand the radical way in which novel and the film produce them. This has opened the text to a dialogue with Agamben (2009) regarding contemporaneity and the artist's responsiveness in relation to it, leading to “circum-scription” and “trans-tornus”, key categories of the researcher's hermeneutic reading method, which seek to show – by discussing Rancière (2021) at the end of the paper – how Cecim’s works lead to a fiction bordering the Nothing.
