Keywords:

This text aims to reflect on the relations between communication and consumption by taking as reference the books of Jean Baudrillard: The System of Objects, The Consumer Society and For a Critique of Political Economy of the Sign, which are representative of transition period when the author tries to combine the theories of the sign with the Marxist critics of capitalism. From a theoretical standpoint, Marxism is replaced by semiotics, and from the social point of view, technique and consumption have become central to people’s lives. From there, we try to analyze the theoretical relevance of these approaches, considering the media society.Downloads
