Evolutionary Epistemology
a heuristic for communication
Keywords:
Evolutionary Epistemology, Natural Selection, Heuristics, CommunicationAbstract
The article reflects on the potential for transferring the procedural logic of Darwin’s evolution of species to scientific knowledge and other social processes. It indicates a criticism against a purely analog transfer and the existence of diversified models of application of the Darwinian paradigm to science processes. It proposes a heuristic extraction from Darwin's discoveries and from explanatory and prescriptive experiences of evolutionary epistemology. On these bases, it presents a perception of the procedural logic of transformation and continuity as a suitable heuristic for knowledge development, as well as for other social processes in which non-deterministic developments are perceived. In conclusion, it indicates the possibility of activating this heuristic for communication studies.
