Résumé

Cet article vise à rétablir le dialogue entre la communication et le contrôle, en fournissant des arguments clés selon lesquels la relation entre ces deux concepts n'est pas seulement documentée dans de nombreux travaux d'auteurs sur le sujet, mais reflète également que ces travaux ont contribué à maintenir l'idée centrale selon laquelle le contrôle social et la communication font partie intégrante de la structure même de la construction sociale des réalités, de la régulation des interactions jusqu'aux sociétés dans leur ensemble. La science de la communication est également le résultat de ce processus, n'étant pas seulement une conséquence du développement des industries, mais plutôt le fruit de la connaissance des problèmes de régulation de la société en général. La science de la communication s’est construite en Amérique à partir du besoin de comprendre le contrôle des affaires humaines et de la politique à travers l’opinion publique et les médias de masse dans les zones urbaines. L’histoire de la science de la communication a rejeté le concept de contrôle et l’a relié à la cybernétique et à la « sociologie dominante », comme dans les travaux des fonctionnalistes, créant ainsi une impasse pour les discussions autour de la communication et de ses moyens de contrôle développés dans de nombreuses théories, et empêchant également nos études de se connecter aux grandes narrations sociales et criminologiques.
