The undergraduate term paper: a didactic suggestion based on textual analysis

Abstract

Based on our teaching experience, we realized that some students, even the ones about to be graduated, have difficulties in writing academic texts.  Therefore, the present paper is aimed at analyzing the linguistic and discourse resources used in Term Papers and based on this analysis, propose a didactic means  to  teaching academic writing to undergraduate students. Based on the theoretical and methodological perspective of socio-discursive interactionism, our analysis shows the importance of identifying the main features of a particular genre to develop activities that promote the academic literacy necessary for the production of texts in this social sphere.
