Abstract

Given the need to reflect on and improve Portuguese as Welcoming Language (PLAc) teaching materials, this assignment propose an analysis of Pode Entrar (AMARO et al, 2015) and Portas Abertas (REINOLDES, MANDALÁ e AMADO, 2017). In the analysis methodology we defined which criteria to focus on in different aspects of the handouts, like the selected discursive genres and their usage on the tasks that guide the learning process. We highlight the handouts strengths and point to which aspects can be improved by refactoring the teaching tasks and creating new ones. Finally, we touched the importance of this type of handout coming along with a teacher notebook, to provide help when facing challenges that are common in this context.
