Abstract

This article aims to analyze what is expected from the student-teacher from a Letras Portuguese-English course of a State University in Parana about the teacher’s job. Considering this, we highlight to what extend there is a coherence among the National Brazilian Directives for the Education of Basic Education Teachers, the Political and Pedagogical Project and the menus of the English language areas of this institution. Based on the Sociodiscursive Interactionism (SDI) and in MACHADO and CRISTOVÃO (2005), MACHADO and BRONCKART (2009) and PLACCO (2005;2006), we can conclude that the teacher is just a participant and not the main actor, being able to transform his/her own work.
