Abstract

This article develops an analysis of political participation in the local sphere of the capitalist state. First, the local sphere of the capitalist state tends to concretize the political hegemony of a fraction of the local dominant class. Second, the class representation vote has a better chance of materializing in the national context than the local one. Instead, clientielist politics are more likely to prevail at the local level. Finally, the focus of governance retains a markedly ideological aspect.
