Abstract

This article discusses the reflections of the French Marxist philosopher Daniel Bensaid on the relationships between Marxism, history and determinism, as well as on the centrality of politics in processes of historical transformation. With regard to both of these issues, we maintain that Bensaid possesses an open, rather than a teleological vision of history, which makes strategy central to processes of historical transformation.
