The objective of this article is to reflect on the role of wars of national liberation duringthe process of capitalist development, as well as to better understand, through areading of classic authors on Marxism and the art of war, the behavior of the UnitedStates in two of the most important wars of the contemporary world: Vietnam, in thetwentieth century, and Iraq, at the beginning of the twenty-first.
