Abstract

In this article the author examines the UnitedStates military presence in the Caribbean,reinforced after the earthquake that occurredin Haiti on January 12. Taking advantage of thetragedy that affected the devastated country,the U.S. government redesigned its presencein the region and increased its control overLatin America by sending more troops, shipsand equipment that will permit it to easilyand rapidly reach any country that offers itresistance.
