Abstract

The May 1st Show records (Dicobertas, 2011) capture the memorable musical presentationsof Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) at the Riocentro Pavilion in Rio de Janeiro in 1980 and 1981.Organized by the Center for a Democratic Brazil (CEBRADE), these shows included renownedMPB musicians and can be understood as acts of resistance against the Military Regime duringa moment of struggle for Brazilian democracy.
