Abstract

Based on contributions from Nicos Poulantzas, this article proposes a different analysis of “social movements,” beginning with a defense of what they suggest about all social classes in capitalist formations. The base of support for this hypothesis can be found in two interrelated aspects: on the one hand, the relative autonomy of the bourgeois state induces all social classes to organize “movements,” on the other hand, they are, like parties and unions, outdated
representations of classes on the political stage.
