Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the current political moment in Brazil in light of the rise of rightwing sectors to the center of the political stage, threatening democracy and workers’ rights. The conservative sector took to the streets to seek popular support for its authoritarian, racist and homophobic causes. The right has demonstrated force and controlled the political debate as a result of the 2014 elections, which conferred upon the national Congress and government policies a conservative and authoritarian character.
