Abstract

This paper seeks to provide an overview of the writings of Karl Marx and Max Weber on technology, revealing through this comparison the differences and similarities between these two authors, who greatly influenced the debate in this field. We argue that the study of technology – the dynamics of its development, legitimation and evolution – is an integral part of the effort to interpret changes in capitalist society in our time, just as it was for these two thinkers.
