The Rise of the #BlackLivesMatter Movement

movement has erupted against police brutality and shaken U.S. society to its core. There were daily protests in the weeks after the announcement that two white police officers would not be indicted for the murder of two unarmed black men. Since late November, tens of thousands of people have participated in demonstrations, direct actions and all manner of protests, to rally against the racism, brutality and injustice at the heart of American legal institutions. The Black Lives Matter movement had emerged. This article presents the author’s view of this social movement.References
