Abstract

Based on the comparative analysis, from a dialectical perspective of the dystopian works of Aldous Huxley (Brave New World) and George Orwell (1984) this article reexamines the concepts of utopia and dystopia in light of the current situation of Brazil, marked by the inversion of reality (lies turned into facts, science into pure opinion, and ignorance into knowledge). The point of departure of the text is the dystopian and tragic realization, in the current Brazilian context, of various aspects of these two works which, each in its own way, imagines a tragic future for humanity.
