Abstract

In this article, the author exams how social categories are produced. She seeks to analyze the power relations behind that production or, in other words, the flows known as social relations (rapports sociaux): the genesis and current utilization of the term social relations of sex. What interests her is to understand the historicity of social relations. For example, can we still talk about the “working class” in the singular, or is it better to talk about the “popular classes” in the plural?
