Abstract

It is difficult to present in a few pages the work of an intellectual as important as Nicole-ClaudeMathieu, who died on March 9, 2014. She was and continues to be one of the most stimulatingtheorists of the second wave of the French feminist movement. Nevertheless, today, given the eruption of “gender perspectives,” which are sometimes under-theorized and poorlyworked out, and given the growing confusion about what feminism should be, Mathieu’s perspectiveis very necessary.
