Abstract

This article presents the results of research on the austerity policies implemented by the Portuguese government between 2011 and 2015 and analyzes the Portuguese economic crisis provoked by the financial rescue undertaken by the Troika (European Commission, IMF and European banks). That so-called structural adjustment was established by the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding based on economic and financial austerity policies, assembled in a set of reforms and fiscal measures that affected labor relations and employment policies.
