Author Guidelines

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Types of accepted documents

This is a journal aimed at the academic community in general, especially in the areas of Social Sciences, Architecture and Urbanism, Urban and Regional Planning, and Demography.

Articles received for publication must be unpublished and will be submitted for consideration by members of the Editorial Board and ad hoc consultants for the issuance of opinions. Articles will receive two evaluations and, if necessary, a third. The anonymity of both authors and reviewers will be respected.

The Scientific Editors and the organizers of the issue will be responsible for the final selection of texts recommended for publication by the reviewers, taking into account their academic-scientific consistency, clarity of ideas, relevance, originality, and timeliness of the topic.

The journal is licensed under a CC-BY (Creative Commons) license. This license allows others to remix, adapt, and build upon your work for non-commercial purposes, and while new works must be credited and may not be used for commercial purposes, users do not have to license these derivative works under the same terms.

The journal provides immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater global democratization of knowledge.

The journal does not charge submission, publication, or any other fees in its processes, and is a scientific outlet aimed at the Brazilian scientific community.

Cadernos Metrópole is composed of a thematic core, with a specific call for papers, and a free-topic core related to the areas cited. Thematic texts must be submitted within the established deadline and must meet the requirements set forth in the call. Free texts will be received on a continuous basis.

The editors invite professionals in the field to organize the issue for each thematic issue. Organizers must prepare the text for the call for papers with a maximum of 300 words.

The journal publishes texts in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. The texts will be published in the original language and in English. The quality and costs of the translation will be the sole responsibility of the authors. Translation is mandatory only for texts that are selected for publication.

As of 2021, v. 23, n. 50, the journal Cadernos Metrópole will publish its articles in the original language and in English. The translation costs are the sole responsibility of the authors.

Authors must comply with a 2 (two) edition interval for new publication.

Authors' Contribution

Each author’s contribution should be identified according to the CREDiT taxonomy, according to specific functions: conceptualization; data curation; formal analysis; funding acquisition; investigation; methodology; project administration; resources; software; supervision; validation; visualization; writing of the original draft; writing-review and editing.

Manuscript Preparation

Cadernos Metrópole is composed of a thematic core, with a specific call for papers, and a core of free themes related to the areas mentioned. Thematic texts must be submitted within the established deadline and must meet the requirements set forth in the call. Free texts will be received on a continuous basis.

Articles may be written in Portuguese, Spanish, English or French.

Authors will be notified by email of the final decision, and the journal does not undertake to return unpublished originals.

The papers must be presented in the following order:

• title, with a maximum of 12 words, in Portuguese or in the language in which the article was written, and in English;

• abstract of a maximum of 120 (one hundred and twenty) words in Portuguese or in the language in which the article was written and another in English, with an indication of 3 to 5 keywords in Portuguese or in the language in which the article was written, and in English;

• text, typed in Word, 1.5 spacing, Arial font size 11, with 20 to 25 pages, including tables, graphs, figures, bibliographical references; images must be in JPG format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and a maximum width of 13 cm;

• section titles, with a maximum of 6 words;

• bibliographical references, according to the instructions requested by the journal.

Important:

• Authorship MUST NOT be included in the document. The following information must be filled in in step 3 of the submission (Inclusion of Metadata): Orcid, author's name, basic education, training institution, academic title, activity performed, institution where he/she works, unit and department, city, state, country, e-mail, telephone and correspondence address.

Citations and References

Bibliographic references, which follow the ABNT standards adapted by Educ, should be placed at the end of the article, strictly following the following instructions:

Books

Digital Assets

Tables, graphs, figures, bibliographic references; images must be in JPG format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and a maximum width of 13 cm.

Submission of manuscripts

Submissions to Cadernos Metrópole must be submitted via the link submissions: https://revistas.pucsp.br/index.php/metropole/about/submissions, as follow: (1) if the author(s) is/are not yet registered, please click here; (2) when registering, fill out the following fields: name, email, institution (link), and in the "Biography Summary" field, define the highest degree, place of work and function of each author; (3) after registering, the author must access the system by clicking here.

It is essential to send the do Instrumento Particular de Autorização e Cessão de Direitos Autorais, dated and signed by the author(s). The document must be uploaded in step 2 of the submission, after sending the Article Text, by clicking on Upload File and selecting the Other component.

Evaluation of Articles

Articles received for publication must be unpublished and will be submitted for evaluation by members of the Editorial Board and ad hoc consultants for their opinions. Articles will receive two evaluations and, if necessary, a third. The anonymity of both authors and reviewers will be respected.

Reviewers must declare any possible conflict of interest and inform the editorial board about any similarity between published material and the material being evaluated.

The edition organizers and Scientific Editors will be responsible for the final selection of texts recommended for publication by the reviewers, taking into account their academic-scientific consistency, clarity of ideas, relevance, originality and timeliness of the topic.

Texts approved by the reviewers, but not selected by the organizers for publication in the edition to which they were submitted, will be made available to the editors for publication in subsequent editions in the Supplementary Texts section.

Communication with authors

Authors will be notified by email of the final decision, and the journal does not undertake to return unpublished originals.

Financing statement

Please provide sources of support for the work, including names of sponsors, contract number (if applicable), along with explanations of the role of these sources.
