Kindergarten education: legislation and pedagogical pratice.

Abstract

This article brings up for discussion some controversies that involve the kindergarten education taking as a main point for analysis the current legislation and pedagogical pratice. Amongst the most relevant aspects that are approached are, the Brazilian Constitution of 1998 and the Lei de Diretrizes e Bases LDB 9394/96, which talk about the formation of the professionals of the kindergarten education. The discussion of these particular points happen focusing on the aims and purposes of this school level. We establish a historical synthesis of the education offered to children from 0 to 6 years old in the Brazilian context, based on the reality of the city of Cáceres in the state of Mato Grosso. Therefore we use preliminary data from a research done by Unemat (University of the State of Mato Grosso) in this region.
