Abstract

This essay looks back to the question of realities (and not reality) and fictions that are found diluted in the plot of photographic representations. This leads us to revisit the fundamentals that have permeated our studies on the nature of photography, drawing attention to the processes of creation/construction of realities and fictions (verisimilar), present in the production and reception of images, and also in their usages and applications. This is the thread that runs through the photographic experience. Indeed, digital photography has exacerbated the fictional and aesthetic potential of images, however, the fiction component has always been rooted in the construction of photographic representations since its advent regardless of the technological programs in use at different times (analogic, digital, "postphotographic" etc.). Based on these concepts, our goal is to study the masks of representation as instruments of manipulation of written and visual information that develop around our central axis, which are the interfaces between photography and history.
