The Anthropocene is another Thing/Other thing
a semiotic-psychoanalytic approach

This paper approaches the Anthropocene from a psychoanalytic and semiotic point of view beyond statistics and figures. It proposes to combine micro-actions with macro-actions in order to handle the immeasurable negative impacts of the human on Earth. It is a perspective that turns both to the “underground of culture” and to the “underground of being” since climate problems, for example, are just part of what this paper defines as “anthropoviolations”. As the only “speaking species” on the planet, in the Lacanian sense, we are permanently determined by drives, which lead us to a “point of no return”: it is no longer possible to solve or mitigate many of the anthropocentric changes in the world. At the heart of this imbroglio there is a weak point: the responsibility of each individual. In this sense, there is something in the Anthropocene that concerns something we do not want to know about – probably linked to the finitude of things and beings.
