Abstract
The purpose of this article is to understand how the referencing process can contribute to the construction of the project of saying and to the feasibility of a multiplicity of textual meanings that can be inferred from the strategies used in the process. The proposed understanding of the referencing process that guides us follows the studies of Textual Linguistics (MARCUSCHI, 2001; KOCH, 2001, 2008; CAVALCANTE; RODRIGUES; CIULLA, 2003; ELIAS; RIBEIRO, 2008; Alves Filho, 2010; SANTOS; COLAMARCO, 2014, SANTOS; CAVALCANTE, 2014 and KOCH; ELIAS, 2016). For an analysis of the corpus, we selected a central referent - Bolsonaro - discussed by Ricardo Kertzman, in the opinion article “Bolsonaro in his `live`: liar as always, ignorant as never”, published on 06.18.21, in the newspaper O Estado de Mines. In the corpus, the selected referent is constructed and resumed through a referencing strategy, predominantly through direct anaphoras, contributing to the construction of the image of a president with negative characteristics.
