Abstract

ABSTRACT Objectives: to verify the main causes of women death in reproductive age, occurring in the CHS, important tertiary center hospital. Methods: in a descriptive retrospective observational study from medicals female’s dossier, of 10 to 49 years old, interned in the CHS deceased from January/2001 to December/2006. The variables studied: age, time of hospital inside, direct (first) or indirect (secondary) care, procedure city, kind of treatment (clinical or surgical), general state in hospital internment (good, fairly good or bad). Gynecological and obstetrics histories were studied, basic cause death and associated illness. Results: the number of female death were yearly elevating, reach 475 deaths, 2/3 from neighbours cities, clinical cases in more proportion (361/475). 2/3 of the patients were in bad general survival conditions. The outcomes disclose how were contemplated that the mortality raise with the patients’ age, with main causes: cardiovascular (22,35%), malignant neoplasm (18,64%), external causes (16,38%), high maternal mortality (6,32%). Conclusion: most portion of deaths have difficult solution, the health’s programs applied to woman, just now, are in deficit deserving functional and co-ordination revisions, which costs, from afar, perform almost nothing, if compared with personal, social, economic damages of the family.
