ABSTRACT Verrucous carcinoma is a less aggressive variant of penile carcinoma that rarely has lymph node metastasis. In this type of tumor, surgical treatment is the best way to control the disease. This study reports a case of penile verrucous carcinoma in a 44 years old man who underwent surgical treatment by total penectomy. The patient had an ulcerated lesion in the dorsal region of the penis, that progressed with local infection and bilateral inguinal lymphadenopathy. The biopsy diagnosed verrucous carcinoma of the penis. Penectomy was nominated for the patient. Although verrucous carcinoma is not so invasive, total penectomy was opted with implantation of the urethra in the perineum, due to the large extent of the tumor which affected the whole body. Despite good tumor differentiation, the performance of total penectomy was necessary in this case due to the great extent of the lesion. The lymph node dissection was not performed and the need for these cases is not proven. Treatment with antibiotics is mandatory and generally improves regional adenopathy as described.Downloads
