Abstract

ABSTRACT Condyloma is highly associated with infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), one of the most prevalent sexually transmitted diseases in the world. A 54 year-old man presented a vegetative lesion in the suprapubic region with progressive growth for 20 years. He successfully underwnet pretreatment of penile condyloma with cauterization. The lesion had grown significantly and was then submitted to a biopsy for histologic diagnosis of condyloma acuminata. The chosen therapy was excision of the lesion. Invasive therapy becomes a therapeutic option of choice, indicated by all the studies analyzed. In our case, the treatment option was the removal of the lesion due to recurrence after chemical and heat cauterization. In spite of surgical approach being a more aggressive intervention, it was appropriate for this patient in question because of the lesion dimensions and the failure of previous therapies.
