Abstract

Phimosis is a physiological condition with spontaneous resolution in more than 90% of cases up to five years old; it can facilitate local complications but is rarely attributed as a cause of acute post-renal renal failure. In this way, evidencing the scarcity of reports in the literature and the lack of recognition by professionals, it is necessary to report the case of an adult who attended dialysis urgently and hospitalization in the ICU due to complications generated by phimosis with preputial adherence. The patient, a male 29 years old, was referred from the Emergency Care Unit due to the condition of vomiting, inappetence, abdominal pain, and non-acceptance of liquids and food orally, starting
two weeks before. He had already consulted in the Emergency Care Unit, being treated with symptomatic and hydration, and reported having presented bradycardia and low oxygen saturation. In the ICU, evaluation of the urology team was requested, and treatment was performed with antiemetic, third-generation cephalosporin, and hydration with
crystalloid. The urology team made an incision of the foreskin with exposure of the glans and passage of a delay bladder tube, totaling a throughput of 6.000 ml in 18 hours. The patient presented an important clinical and ...
