Polyphony orchestrated by visual and verbal-visual quotation

This paper aims at relating polyphony with other concepts conceived by Bakhtin and the Circle so as to marshal them in the inter-textual and inter-discursive readings of three cultural productions that thematize the hero in Macunaíma, a milestone of Brazilian cultural, linguistic and discursive identity. Engaged in dialogue by means of a metonymy – the episode entitled “A pacuera do Oibê”-, these works exhibit discursive and cultural polyphony and allow for a re-dimension of the concept of citation/reported speech as quotational architecture.Downloads
